Welcome To First Evangelical Free Church of Ames

Prayer

Top among our priorities and investments as a ministry is our commitment to prayer. What follows is our body-wide strategy for developing a culture of prayer at First Evangelical Free Church, and opportunities for your growth in this vital area.

To build a culture of prayer, we are pursuing a three-part strategy.

#1  organic modeling and teaching of prayer – we start here, realizing that people who do not have a thriving personal prayer life will not be hungry to pray with others corporately. We are committed to helping individuals develop an authentic and intimate ongoing conversation with God. So, we are about raising the level and quality of prayer in our existing ministries, such as in our small groups, ministry teams, etc.. Complementing this are creative prayer experiences to teach and model prayer, such as our School of Prayer and a rhythm of prayer retreats.

#2  catalytic corporate prayer gatherings – we call people to encounters with the living God and not just prayer meetings. Encounters with God through prayer, worship, the Scriptures, and the historical prayers of the church cultivate people’s desire for and practice of prayer. The Gathering is one such corporate form, as well as special prayer services on Sunday AM. We also invite people to pray with the church through our website and other seasonal ministries.

#3  strategic development of prayer ministries – our need is to actively build intergenerational teams of intercessors deployed in ministries of prayer for
* Sunday morning and weekly ministries
* prayer requests submitted from the body through our Response Tabs and website
* those who are sick, entrapped in sin, or discouraged
* staff, leaders, missionaries, and workers in the mission of FEFC
* our community, country, and its leaders

Opportunities to grow and serve in prayer

You’re invited to step into this vital area of personal, spiritual growth and kingdom ministry through the organic opportunities and corporate gatherings explained above. Also, First Evangelical Free Church has a “prayer chain” which is activated when special requests come to our ministry’s office; there is opportunity to be included in this prayer network (contact Loyas, 232-2765).
